Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada conducted Express Entry round 417 on May 27, 2026, issuing 3,000 Invitations to Apply to Canadian Experience Class candidates with a Comprehensive Ranking System cut-off of 518. The draw is the ninth CEC round of 2026 and the first since round 413 on April 28, ending a 29-day CEC interval that is the longest CEC pause recorded year-to-date. The 2026 invitation total now stands at 75,341 across all categories.

What's changed

Round 417 invited 3,000 candidates who hold work experience under the Canadian Experience Class stream with a CRS score of 518 or higher. The 518 cut-off is four points above the April 28 round 413 threshold of 514 and eleven points above the year's lowest CEC threshold of 507 set during the March 17 round 408. CEC candidates do not receive a provincial-nomination bonus, so the cut-off reflects the underlying human-capital, skills-transferability, and Canadian-work-experience score without category adjustments.

The May 27 draw breaks a 29-day CEC pause that began after round 413. During the interval, IRCC conducted three Provincial Nominee Program rounds (rounds 414 French-speaking on May 5 with 4,000 ITAs at CRS 400, round 415 PNP on May 11 with 380 ITAs at CRS 798, and round 416 PNP on May 25 with 334 ITAs at CRS 805) but did not invite CEC candidates. With round 417, CEC year-to-date invitations reach 37,250 across nine draws.

Invited candidates needed Express Entry profiles created on or before April 30, 2026, with the precise tie-break timestamp published in the IRCC ministerial-instructions record.

Who's affected

Round 417 invitations land with Canadian Experience Class candidates — foreign nationals with at least one year of skilled Canadian work experience in National Occupational Classification TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 categories. The CEC pool draws heavily from international graduates of Canadian post-secondary institutions on post-graduation work permits and from temporary foreign workers transitioning to permanent residence. The largest CEC nationality cohorts in 2026 to date are Indian, Filipino, Chinese, and Nigerian candidates, mirroring Canada's broader skilled-worker demographic mix.

Candidates already invited in earlier 2026 CEC rounds (totaling 34,250 ITAs before May 27) are not affected by round 417. The round also leaves untouched the substantial pool of candidates scoring between 501 and 517 — a band that has expanded over the pause period as new profiles entered the system without invitation.

When it takes effect

The 3,000 invitations are live as of the May 27 draw date. Each invited candidate must submit a complete electronic permanent-residence application within 60 days of the invitation, with all supporting documentation including an Educational Credential Assessment, language test results, proof of funds, and police certificates. The application deadline for round 417 invitees is July 26, 2026.
